Chairman Wang Wenliang Accompanies Jilin Province Municipal Secretary Bayanqolu in Investigation and Study of Tonghua Inland Port  2017-06-01

On August 10, Jilin Province Municipal Secretary Bayanqolu arrived at Tonghua to perform market investigation and research on the construction of the Tonghua Port and Dandong Port Integration Project. After listening to a report by Tonghua municipal leader and Dandong Port Chairman Wang Wenliang, Bayanqolu expressed his full approval of the project.

He indicated that Jilin Provincial Municipal Government offers its full support to the southward and sea bound development of Tonghua and the comprehensive integration and fusion of Tonghua Port and Dandong Port. Additionally, he mentioned that the Jilin Provincial Municipal Government backs the construction of Jilin’s own maritime port. By doing so, it is contended that the province will be able to join the maritime economic circle and become a coastal province.

Jilin’s automobile, grain, medicine, iron and steel, shipping container, forestry, and other bulk-cargo industries will converge at Tonghua Land Port Center. Moreover, the industries will further the construction of the Tonghua-to-Dandong high-speed railway. The province will also seek to make improvements to existent high-speed rail lines, highways, and e-commerce networks. Along Jilin Municipal District and the Tumen River, as well as Tonghua and Dandong, local economic circles will be united reaching all the way to the coast and integrated into the One Belt and One Road.

Dandong Port is providing an abundance of deepwater coastline resources and land for the construction of Tonghua Port. This guarantees that Tonghua Port will genuinely become Jilin’s“Window to the South.” The port also aims to unify economic circles from Jilin Municipal District to the Tumen River and the Tonghua and Dandong economic areas. In order to achieve this, Jilin Provincial Government has dedicated 5 billion yuan in supporting funds. Dandong Port will also invest more than 1 billion yuan. The project will reduce the transportation distance and time from Jilin Province out to sea, thus saving on transportation costs. Every year Jilin Province businesses will save approximately 1 billion in goods distribution costs. The project also allows for additional tens of millions in distribution capacity for goods annually
